Infinite Castle Expansion Set 1: Buildings & Dungeons


Today I am releasing infinite castle expansion 1. Like the original, this is a 3d print/laser cut mash up featuring 3d printed corner clips, window, and functional doors. Laser cut birch plywood 1/8 inch floors, rafters, and siding. Lastly it includes laser cut EVA or XPLE foam walls and laser cut Depron Foam shingles. The 3d printed clips include regular corner L clips with and without 1/8 inch cut aways, T clips for connecting to castle wall, straight clips for reinforcement or dungeon building. All three clips have a 3/8th inch slot to insert  dowels or cut foam for stacking levels. I have included a concave corner clip with 1/8th inch cutaway for non rectangular buildings. My final future release will be Infinite Fortress, however at this point you should be able to get there without me as the only major thing that is left is thicker walls and a real gate house. Illustrator files for making a roof that will fit a 5×8 inch building have been included, in addition to the files for a 5×8 floor. Flat roofs provide an easy roofing solution, however shingle roofs will have to be custom designed by following my basic design solution or one of your own. Hip and valley roof designs will likely require you to revert to more analogue terrain building methods. CNC routering roofs out of foam is the only digital solution I can think of at this point for addressing this issue.  You WILL NOT find stairs or plans to cut away floor sections for stairs.  You will have to custom design your floors anyways, and I feel like most people can handle making their own stairs . In addition to buildings, these clips will also allow you to design dungeon layouts of infinite size and shape as well. Find images and a short-ish poor intro video below. New Walls


I’ve completed clip in windows and doors for foam walls, as well as redesigning corners to go right off exterior wall. I’ve also finalized a roof design for open source. I should have pictures by next post. Developing infinite building concepts for buildings will work fine but it will require a lot more hands on designing and augmentation on the user end compared to the exterior castle walls I released. I’m moving forward with new, high detail designs for resin/foam cast kit for kickstarter. Designing figures is a lot bigger challenge but it’s time to move this into more of a product based model enterprise.  Building and terrain is where demand is so that is where I will focus. A quick preview for cut rock and stone rock wall.

Infinite Castle Release V1.0


Today I am releasing the first installment of infinite castle, previews maybe found in the last several posts here. Immediately below you will find a video of me going over the release. This video is low-fi, long, and boring but may contain useful info.

Here is a link to buy 3/8 inch XLPE foam if you need it. If you use some other foam remember to make sure it doesn’t contain chlorine or you may fuck up your laser. Foam is made from a lot of stuff. Just because foams feel the same does not mean they are. Do your research. The fumes from XLPE are not good for humans, make sure laser is venter to outside.  I have also repost my 28/52mm steam tank model for free download.

Laser cut info

You can use any texture you want for laser cutting.Floors and catwalk are laser cut in one pass using 1/8th inch baltic birch ply . BMP images are raster engraved twice. Once with a half tone dither and once with no dither and a b/w threshold of 90 or so. Walls are laser engraved XLPE foam. It is laser engraved with a 40w laser at 100% speed and 75% power using a simple dither @250 DPI. It is important not to increase resolution higher as that actually doubles the cutting power of the laser.
